The Jack Link's flavour guide: how to pick the right beef jerky

If you've stood in front of a wall of Jack Link's bags wondering which one to grab, you're not alone. Jack Link's is the biggest jerky brand in the world, and they make a lot of variations. This week — during our Jack Link's Brand Week with −20 % off the entire range — felt like the right time to write a short, honest guide to the four flavours we stock, so you can pick with confidence.

Original — the one to start with

If you've never had Jack Link's before, get Original. It's the flavour that put them on the map: smoky, savoury, with a clean beef taste and enough seasoning to be interesting without overpowering anything. Think of it as the gateway jerky. Most first-time customers buy Original, and a big chunk of them come back for it.

Try it if: you want a no-surprises, classic jerky experience that pairs well with a beer, a long drive, or a 3 PM slump at your desk.

Teriyaki — the crossover hit

Teriyaki is what happens when Wild West meets Far East. It's got the same tender Jack Link's texture, but the seasoning leans sweet and umami — soy, brown sugar, a whisper of ginger. It's the flavour we recommend to people who like Asian food, who think Original might be a bit too plain, or who want something they can eat slowly and savour.

Try it if: you like sweet-savoury combos, teriyaki chicken, or anything with a glossy soy glaze.

Sweet & Hot — the polarising one

This is the one people either love or shake their head at. Sweet & Hot leads with a sugary front, then a real chilli burn lands a few seconds later. It's not a face-melting heat — more of a slow build that warms you up. We sell a lot of it to people who already know they like spicy snacks, and we hear from customers who buy a bag intending to share and end up finishing it alone in the car.

Try it if: you reach for the hot sauce, you like sweet-spicy snacks (think honey-chipotle), or you want to see what jerky tastes like when it bites back.

Biltong Original — the South African cousin

Biltong is technically not jerky — it's air-dried instead of smoked, cut thicker, and seasoned with coriander, vinegar, and a bit of pepper. The texture is denser, the flavour deeper, and it's a closer experience to eating cured meat than chewing on a snack. Jack Link's makes a really good entry-level Biltong: still recognisably Jack Link's, but with the South African DNA intact.

Try it if: you've had biltong before and want a reliable version, or you're curious how it compares to jerky.

Our honest recommendation

If this is your first Jack Link's order, get Original 60g and either Teriyaki 60g or Sweet & Hot 60g depending on your spice tolerance. Two bags, around 79 kr each after discount, and you'll know within a week which one you reach for at midnight.

If you already know what you like, this is the moment to stock up on a 12-pack — same −20 % applies, and it works out to roughly the price of a single bag from a petrol station. Boxes are good for offices, road trips, and post-workout protein.

A note on Brand Week

Jack Link's Brand Week runs from Mon Jun 1 to Sun Jun 14, 2026. −20 % applies automatically at checkout to every Jack Link's product — singles, 12-packs, Biltong, Protein Bars, the lot. Mid-campaign, on Friday Jun 12, it's also International Jerky Day, which felt like a fitting reason to throw a small party.

After Jun 14 at 23:59 CET, prices go back to normal until the next Brand Week in autumn.
